Saya ingin mengucap terima kasih kepada semua penghuni di Kawasan Parlimen Kelana Jaya, kawan-kawan dari dekat dan jauh datang ke Sunway Pyramid malam ini. Tonight, your presence has made it a special night, a night that we are able to celebrate Hari Raya Adilfitri, Mid-Autumn Festival and Hari Malaysia together, in the month of September.
Tonight, we have invited School Brass band, children from homes & kindergarten, dragon dance, lions dance, kompang, Indian drummers, line dance group, stilt walkers, clowns, mascots to join in the parade. I want all of you to walk with us, to appreciate the beauty of the moonlight & the surrounding. It is a parade of its kind, a parade that covered outdoor & indoor. We can only keep our traditions alive, when you participate!
Malaysia, the country that you & I love; it is so unique that the spirit of acceptance, tolerance & spirit of joy & love, that bind all of us together. Hari Raya Adilfitri & Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated with lights, come in the form of pelita & lantern, shined & showed the way of Muhibah. We have moon cakes with ketupat, pelita with Tanglung, Bendera Malaysia dan Bunga Mangga, Dragon dance dan Kompang. The list can continue.
Yes, Orang Melayu atau Orang Tionghua, Orang India, Kadazan, Dayak dan kaum-kaum lain di Malaysia, We Malaysians, celebrate all festivals together. Syabas dan Taniah !
I have said it many times, but I will repeat & repeat as this is the principle of Harmony! What we have been enjoying for many many years, let’s not take it for granted; it is the continuous efforts of our forefathers and the present national leadership, that we have this beautiful place called “Malaysia”. Our forefathers landed in this land hundreds of years ago, they sweat and bled and had worked hard for this land. We are not going to trade off “Malaysia”! Malaysia is for everyone, & every one is responsible to protect Malaysia from the extremists, from the irresponsible politicians.
We have to acknowledge that some of the previous leadership whether at local or national level had its shortcoming; we are aware that the leaders then, may not heard your voices or done not enough to your expectation. But, I appeal to you, to give the new leaders rooms to improve; do not burden the present leaders with the incompetence of past leaders, and do not deter us from serving you better.
Parliament Kelana Jaya, consists of Subang Jaya, part of USJ, Bandar Sunway, Seri Setia, Desa Mentari, Glenmarie etc; is one of the most densely populated & highly educated area in the country. I, as the Penyelaras Parlimen, together with the support from my MCA comrades, BN component parties; have been working in the area for past 3 & half years.
Rain or shine, we continue to carry on our responsibilities as community and political leaders. We have been walking around to meet the people, addressing issues & share views on nation building to our best in our capacity. Thank you to our counterparts in Barisan Nasional and other local organisations, with your participation & cooperation, we will continue to walk on the uneven path, and soon drive on highway! We are here for you.
Dato Seri Najib has said many times: ‘Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan!’ Yes, give us a chance to prove to you our sincerity to work & change for better ! Our team in Kelana Jaya, has come out with this slogan ‘Suara Anda, Kami dengar; Kepentingan Anda, Kami Utamakan!’. This will serve as a reminder, we will continue to work & voice our views on issues that are related to the welfare of all rakyat.
Di sini, Saya ingin mengambil kesempatan mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih di atas kehadiran Menteri Perumahan & Kerajaan Tempatan Malaysia YB Dato Wira Chor Chee Heung, on behalf of the organising committee & MCA Kelana Jaya, I would like to say “Thank you very much”, for your presence to grace the event.
We will not be able to organize tonight Parade Raya Tanglung 1 Malaysia, in this world class magnificent place without the supports of the Sunway Pyramid team; not forgetting Puan Sri Susan Cheah who is a dear friend & continue to be with us for the 3rd years. We are glad that Tan Sri Jeffery Cheah made time to be with us this year, he has shown us how to turn impossible to possible! A tin mining area is now the icon of modern township. Tan Sri, you have made it, we can made it too !
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors who have generously contributed to the event.
