This morning, while having my breakfast, a message came

in. It read :

" Mdm. Ong, say no to fresh election ...............................

We need strong leader like Ong Tee Keat that can stand up

to XXXX bullying way. EGM result does not represent

ordinary member view! "

As it is an unknown number, I decided to call back and find

out who is the person that send this message. He said he is

a resident of Subang Jaya, not active in politic but a

member of MCA. We talked for few minutes,he was

concerned about the result of EGM just like anyone.

It is touching to know that there are people around us,

care much about MCA and take the trouble to sms his

thoughts to me, a person he hardly know. I am speechless.

My neighbour also sent a message to me : " Public will be

disappointed with the lack of political courage to effect

change." I am speechless.

An old friend from University of Malaya sent this message :

" It's funny! What will happen to MCA ?" I am speechless.

Malam Mesra Raya Tanglung

Pertama sekali, saya ingin mengucapkan ribuan terima

Jaya. Your presence tonight make it a special night. This is

a night that we blend 2 cultures together, moon cakes with

ketupat, pelita with tanglung, silat dan wushu, Orang Melayu

What

we have seen here tonight, do not take it for granted, it is

the continuous efforts of our forefathers and present

leadership, that we have this beautiful place called

“Malaysia”.

I would like to thank Puan Sri Susan Cheah, Mr. HC Chan

and Sunway Pyramid, without your supports, we will not be

able to organize tonight Malam Mesra Raya Tanglung in this

world class magnificent place. Mr. Chan & Puan Sri, we

wish to have your continuous supports in years to come.

Not forgetting Ministry of Information, Communication

& Culture, has generously supported tonight event. The

organizing committee, under the able leadership of Wong

Kok Ken, has worked for many weeks to make this a

memorable event, Thank you.

Saya juga ingin mengambil kesempatan mengucapkan

terimakasih di atas kehadiran Dato Sri Ong Tee Keat &

Datin Sri Jane Ong. You were with us last moon cake

festival at USJ Summits Shopping Complex, you came

to officiate our new MCA Division office November last

year, you were with us this February to witness our

Division committee members swearing-in ceremony.

You were also present in the LRT briefing and dialogue

on 25-07-09 at 3KSports Complex. With your tight

schedule, yet you always have Kelana Jaya at heart.

Thank you, Dato Sri.

MCA has always been here, rain or shine, tsunami

or not; we do not run away from our responsibilities

as community and political leaders. We do not deserted

our supporters, neither the residents after the last election.

Whatever happened in last election, has made us aware that

we have not heard enough, we know that we have to work

harder than before. Under the leadership of Dato Sri Najib

Tun Razak and Dato Sri Ong Tee Keat, we will not only work

on local issues, but work even harder on issues that we and

the Rakyat both cannot tolerate. Give us a chance to prove

that, we can be as good, if not better.

Before I end, let me share with you what I have written in

my blog for this special occasion: Poem and Pantun in 3

languages

Losing Faith?

In any brainstorming session, there will draw some conclusions; some are useful as reference and some are 'syok' sendiri. Below is an article retract from Malaysian Insider:

.

Umno Losing Faith in Barisan Partners
(Malaysian Insider)

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — Umno’s patience and confidence with the current power-sharing agreement with its partners in Barisan Nasional is wearing thin, judging by sentiments expressed during a closed-door retreat in Janda Baik.

During this rare three-day gathering of Umno divisions, which ended yesterday, a common refrain heard was that Umno should be less generous in giving up Malay-majority seats to representatives of MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other component parties.

The general view among division chiefs was that the component parties were much weaker than Umno and would not be able to swing votes from the non-Malays or the Malays.

In contrast, a strong Umno was better placed to win in Malay-majority seats.

The Malaysian Insider understands that party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak and senior party officials who attended the retreat — aimed at boosting the morale of grassroots leaders — were non-committal on the request for Umno to be less charitable in seat allocation with BN component parties.

............................................................................................................

“If a seat has 55 or 60 per cent Malay voters, it makes sense to field an Umno candidate. In the last election, we gave seats in Perak and Selangor to other parties and they were not able to deliver.

..............................................................................................................

During the retreat, officials were also in agreement that Umno’s/BN’s fortunes rested on the ruling party strengthening its standing among Malay voters — a backhanded acknowledgment that it was not pinning much hopes on getting support from non-Malays at the next general election.

This sentiment is consistent with the growing right-wing tendencies that party officials have exhibited in recent months.

There was little substantive discussion on how the party can reach out to Chinese and Indians who Umno officials have alienated in recent months.

.........................................................................................................

Comments (30)

Do read the 30 comments, that are the response from the people. While party members's sentiments cannot be totally ignored, people's feeling should not be ignored either.

Malaysian Insider)

Listening to the People first

This article on LRT is posted on Minister of Transport Malaysia Dato Sri Ong Tee Keat's blog "Courage to Change, Creating New Values". I downloaded and posted here on "My Views" to share with residents who are concerned and would like to know more about the transport system.

"Listening to the People first "

.

I understand that Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), had obtained the approval for the public display of the LRT extension line for Kelana Jaya and Ampang for a period of three months. During this period, Prasana will receive feedback from the people on the projects.

.

The LRT extension is meant to serve the people, and it stands to reason that we must listen to the voice of the people first to ensure the success of the projects. Even before this public display, I had attended a Town Hall meeting at Subang Jaya on the 25th of July 2009 to listen for myself the feedbacks, suggestions and comments from the residents affected by the LRT extension project.

.

Many good points were raised in that session. Concerns raised such as noise pollution, traffic congestion, proximity to houses and facilities for the physically disabled are valid and I am pleased that Prasarana had addressed them in their plans.

.

A study is also ongoing to look into the best option to serve Bandar Sunway and its people, including the sizeable student community there. A summary of the issues raised and their status can be downloaded here .

.

I hope to organise more of such Town Hall meetings to help us craft more friendly and effective policies. It’s also fun to roll up our sleeves to meet the people.

.

For those who missed the Town Hall meeting, it is still not too late to view the display and make your voices count by visiting http://www.dor.gov.my/ or visit the five locations where the display are being held.
